A few hours of garage hacking and this is my 4th or 5th rendition of a device which extracts the hydrogen from steam distilled water, with a little Baking Soda mixed in (for better conductivity).
On the left is a container of tap water, with the hose from the green bottle stuck in it - the resulting bubbles are hydrogen and very flammable (duh!). On the right is just a portable 12v/7aH battery.
In the middle water bottle (the green one) is where the magic happens. I ended up using 2 Gerber baby forks, zip-ties together with a little separation.
Once the battery is hooked up, little bubbles of hydrogen can immediately be seen in the green bottle. A few seconds later and the hydrogen starts bubbling out of the hose into the container of water (on the left).
On the 2nd and 3rd versions of this, I lit the hydrogen in the green bottle and it blew off the cap, which was screwed on. I now understand why it only took a few seconds for the Hindenburg to go up in flames.
Two of my neighbors came over to check out what I was doing - I told them that I'd like to build a more contained unit and make my Honda Ruckus scooter run on hydrogen.
Here's a close up shot of the hydrogen bubbles coming off of the forks.
At first, I was thinking that I would need some stainless steel flat-bar in order to make this (since most of the videos I had watched online were using it) but the forks really seem to work just fine. I'll probably go up to the Salvation Army store and pick up a dozen stainless steel forks next week.
In just a short amount of time I was able to hack this together, using stuff found around the house, so I'm really at a loss when trying to understand why viable commercial applications are not coming to market (yeah, I know…..as soon as OPEC decides to be in the Hydrogen market, we will see something).
UPDATE: For clarification, the experiment above is not really producing pure Hydrogen, it's actually Browns Gas, otherwise called HHO.
HHO is reported to be 3 times more powerful than petroleum!
Browns Gas is becoming more and more known and creating Boosters for vehicles to increase mileage really does work. This technology is free to use, there are no patents. One can see why this information might be suppressed by big oil corporations. Spread the word. Its real and it works!
